Grand Strand of South Carolina

The Myrtle Beach area has over 100 golf courses.   Many offer special discounts to residents.

The Grand Strand strectches about sixty miles along the South Carolina coast from the North Carolina border to Georgetown.  Cities along The Strand include Myrtle Beach; North Myrtle Beach and Little River north; Surfside Beach, Garden City, Murells Inlet, Litchfield, Pawleys Island and Georgetown south;  and Conway and Carolina Forest west.

While Myrtle Beach has long been known as a mecca for golfers and beach vacationers, the area has something for everyone.  Miles of golden beaches provide for recreation while the hundreds of acres that have been established as wildlife preserve areas protect nature.  Hundreds of restaurants as well as major attractions and venues provide for year around entertainment. The warm climate, coastal influence and low cost of living, have made it an attractive location for retirees, investors looking for lucrative beach rentals, and young families escaping the large expensive cities to raise their families in a comfortable  lifestyle.
  • Myrtle Beach is the largest, most developed and best known of the Grand Strand communities.  Its expansive coastline with public beaches, concentrated restaurants, hotels, entertainment and attractions make it an excellent area for vacationers - and investors of rental property.
  • North Myrtle Beach is made up of four individual communities – Ocean Drive, Cherry Grove, Windy Hill and CrescentBeach.  It has nine miles of beautiful beaches and numerous restaurants, show palaces, entertainment venues and shops with a lot of vacation property but also a relaxed, peaceful, family oriented community.
  • Little River is one of the area’s earliest coastal settlements along the Intracoastal Waterway at the South Carolina/North Carolina border.  This fishing village is known for its fresh seafood, fishing charters and a relaxed pace of living.
  • Surfside beach is an active residential community made up of beach houses, condominiums, hotels, restaurants and attractions.
  • Garden City is unincorporated and is in both Horry and Georgetown counties, ending on a Peninsula at the mouth of Murrells Inlet.
  • The fishing village of Murrells Inlet is labeled the “Seafood Capital of South Carolina”.  Residents work hard to preserve the natural beauty of the marshes and encourage residents to enjoy the views.
  • Litchfield Beach draws both retirees and families to its quiet relaxed neighborhoods.  The area includes lower density housing with country clubs and generous amounts of undeveloped natural areas.  Average homes prices are above the Myrtle Beach area average, with higher end resorts and oceanfront homes .
  • Pawleys Island, one of the earliest resort towns in the state, sits off the Litchfield beaches at the south end of the Grand Strand.  It is a fairly exclusive area attracting vacationers, retirees and relocated families.
  • Georgetown , a Spanish settlement originating in 1526, is a river port town with colorful downtown buildings and brick lined sidewalks.
  • Conway , settled in 1734, is a river town with historic homes and a revitalized business district which is the HorryCounty seat.  Huge moss draped live oaks line the streets while a beautiful river walk is enjoyed by its residents.
  • Carolina Forest is a pre-planned land tract of approximately 12,000 acres just west of Myrtle Beach.   Over 40 residential neighborhoods of various styles and price ranges are interspersed with schools, parks and churches.  The proposed townCenter and existing shopping plaza has numerous shops, restaurants, boutiques, and theatres.
